Ghee Bhat is a Bengali Pulao prepared with veggies and nuts with a sweet taste. essentially a cross between Fried Rice and Pulao.

  • 1 cup Basmati rice
  • ¼ tsp saffron
  • 2 tbsp warm milk
  • 3 tbsp Ghee
  • 10 cashew nuts
  • 50 g raisin
  • 2 green cardamoms
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar

  • Wash and soak the rice for min half hour
  • Soak saffron in hot milk and keep aside
  • Heat the ghee in a heavy bottom pan and add the dried spices
  • After 1-2 mins add the drained rice and sauté for 3-4 mins
  • Add the required water, salt, sugar and cover and cook the rice till done
  • Fry the cashew nuts and raisin in 1 tbsp of ghee and add to the rice.
  • Ready to serve!
